What data we collect

When you use the appointment request form or contact us directly, we may collect:

Your name and contact details (email address, phone number)
The reason for your appointment or enquiry, and any additional notes you provide
Any health-related information you choose to include in your message

Information you provide about your health or a medical condition is treated as a special category of personal data under GDPR Article 9 and is given extra protection accordingly.

Why we collect it and our legal basis

To respond to your enquiry and arrange or manage an appointment — legal basis: your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)) for any health information, and steps taken at your request prior to a contract for the appointment itself

To provide clinical care where a patient relationship is established — legal basis: necessary for the provision of health care (Article 9(2)(h))

To meet our legal and professional obligations as a medical practitioner regulated by the Medical Council of Ireland

How we use your data

We use the information you provide to respond to enquiries, schedule appointments, and provide clinical care. We do not sell your data or use it for marketing without your separate, explicit consent.

Who we share it with

We may share limited data with:

  • Third-party processors: website hosting/form provider (Framer), analytics provider, any appointment-booking software in use

  • Other healthcare professionals directly involved in your care, where relevant and with your consent

  • Regulatory or legal bodies where required by law

International data transfers

Some of the tools used to run this website (such as our hosting provider) may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep your data

Clinical records are generally subject to statutory minimum retention periods under Medical Council of Ireland and HSE guidance, typically a minimum of 8 years for adult patients and longer for records relating to minors. Non-clinical enquiry data that does not lead to a patient relationship should be deleted after a shorter, defined period, e.g. 12 months.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

•     Access the personal data we hold about you

•     Have inaccurate data corrected

•     Request erasure of your data, where applicable

•     Restrict or object to certain processing

•     Request a copy of your data in a portable format

•     Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal

•     Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC), 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28 — www.dataprotection.ie
